About DelveX
Practitioner-grade expertise at mid-market economics.
Australian industry needs better technology decisions. The people best placed to help have mostly been either too expensive, too generic or too tied to a product. DelveX is built to be none of those.
The founder
Every role was another angle on the same problem
Nathan Simiana has spent twenty-five years in industrial technology, in Australia, the UK and the US: on mine sites, offshore rigs, plant floors and in boardrooms. Each role showed him the same gap from a different side.
Starting at the coal face
Out of school in a country town, Nathan wrote industrial software for a major mining company. It was the start of a career spent learning how industrial technology really works from the inside.
From the outside in
As a contractor he built systems for resources companies, and wrote tactical avionics software for military applications. Working for industrial software vendors, he implemented and supported their products for global operators. He learned what it looks like when a solution fits the problem, and when it doesn't.
The sales reality
Selling for a major automation vendor, he felt the pressure to fit a client's problem to the toolbox rather than the other way round. That experience is where DelveX's independence comes from.
Global product leadership
In the US, he led product strategy, product marketing and then product leadership across global industrial markets: complex portfolios, many industries and very different customer needs.
Big 4, and the gap
At a Big 4 consulting company he stood up a smart manufacturing and operations practice, and saw the structural gap clearly: industrial companies that need senior expertise but can't justify enterprise consulting prices. That is the gap DelveX is built to close.
Along the way, Nathan has worked across mining, mineral processing and metals, refining, offshore oil and gas, coal seam gas, water, power and distribution, food and beverage, and medical devices. He also volunteers on the Industry Advisory Committee for the ARC Digital Manufacturing Hub.
Why the name
Delve, then X
Delve means to go deeper: beneath the surface, to what is actually there. The X marks where we're going: a specific answer you can act on. We dig to something, not for the sake of digging.
How we work
Four principles
Diagnose before prescribing
Understand the operation, the organisation and the commercial reality before recommending anything.
Tailor, don't template
The toolbox is broad; how it's applied is always specific to you.
Advice we can stand behind
We only advise on what we'd be prepared to see through.
Value at every stage
You can stop at any point with something useful in hand.
The network
Specialists, not a body shop
DelveX works with a curated network of independent specialists, and alongside integrators rather than against them: DelveX specifies, directs and checks; integrators build. That keeps the advice independent while making delivery possible beyond one person.
Independence
How we stay independent
- No reseller margins, referral fees, commissions or vendor-paid travel.
- Current relationships with vendors and partners are disclosed to clients. Where there is a conflict, we say so, and step out if you ask.
- Everything we publish uses the same frame for every vendor, labels claims as shipped, demonstrated or roadmap, and discloses relationships every time.
